This is a beautifully designed cradleboard from the hands of Great Basin artisan Elmira Copeland. Elmira is a Northern Paiute/Pitt River/Maidu Native American who makes her home on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation in Nevada. She is well known throughout the area for her making of traditional buckskin and willow cradleboards, dance regalia for men and women, and her beautiful beadwork. This cradleboard was woven for a girl, and measures 34 x 14. Willow construction with doeskin covering and decorated with three large beaded red roses, as well as two violet colored flowers, all with bright green leaves. Other design features include fringing, a red and green yarn border on the shade hood, and an etched heavy cow leather foot piece. This is an outstanding example from a weaver who has had several items in museums around the country. Sanderson Yosemite Collection HKA#63163
