Incorporated under the laws of Nevada, no date; Certificate No. 351 issued October 13, 1906 to William A. Mosman for 625 shares; signed by Samuel Platt, President and E.W. Peck as Secretary; printed by Goes; U/C; green border with black ink; has three vignettes: on top left is three miners looking at a rock, in center is mill alongside a stream with mountains, at top right are three men working underground. This mining company was registered as a corporation in the State of Nevada with headquarters in Goldfield; part of the Bullfrog District. The Honorable Samuel Platt was born in Carson City in 1874 to a wealthy Jewish family. As a child he was a talented musician and won awards at oratory. He attended Stanford University and received a law degree from Columbia. Platt was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1897 at age 22. In 1901, at age 25, he was elected to the Nevada State Assembly. In 1905 he became Speaker. By 1906 he was appointed US Attorney by President Teddy Roosevelt. A devoted Republican, he ran against Newlands for US Senate in 1914, losing by approximately 800 votes. Samuel Platt was a leading attorney in the State of Nevada and, according to Wren, was “the owner of some valuable mines.” (Wren, 709). When Platt died, the State of Nevada passed an Assembly Resolution memorializing Platt’s life. [Wren, Thomas. A History of the State of Nevada: Its Resources and People.
