An original Union Pacific Railroad poster promoting the Hoover Dam. Poster measures 22” x 32” and is mounted on heavy cardstock backing. Blank Reverse. The small caption in the lower right corner reads as follows: “Boulder Dam- 727 Feet High/Near Las Vegas, Nevada/Reached Via/Union Pacific Railroad.” Black and white, moderate clarity and contrast. Boulder Dam was constructed between 1931 and 1936 in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River during the Great Depression and cost over one-hundred lives during the construction. The dam was later named after President Herbert Hoover. The Boulder Dam had a construction cost of approximately $49 million. Good.
