Lot of 6 items, including: 1. letter from "Superintendents Office, Mount Cory Mining Company. Coryville, Esmeralda Co., Nev. Sept. 19th, 1883. Addressed to "M. S.M. Herrington, V and T. R.R. Carson City," from (illegible). The letter was sent along with a check for Aug. bill, and requests a receipt in duplicate be sent back to his office. Now part of Mineral County, Coryville was planned and a post office was established in 1883 after silver was discovered on the eastern side of Mount Grant [Ref: Paher, 1970, pp. 463]. Interesting piece, very fine condition. 2. Memorandum, The Aurora Consolidated Mines Co., Aurora Nevada. Dated April Third, 1918, From W.M. Drake Jr. to Mr. R.J. Davey. The memo requests Mr. Davey send extra copies of two Annual Reports of the Goldfield Consolidated Mines Co. and Aurora Consolidated Mines Company to Mr. Drake, preferably two of each. Although now in Mineral County, by the spring of 1861 the California Legislature created Mono County and put the County seat in Aurora, while Nevada counted Aurora as the County seat of Esmeralda. This "double booking" occurred until late 1863, after which it was found that the state boundary was four miles west of Aurora [Ref: Paher, 1970, pp. 466]. 3. Credit Memorandum addressed to the Denver Rock Drill Manufacturing Co., datelined San Francisco, June 11, 1917. From Aurora Cons. Mining Co., a credit of $22.00 for a "Piston Hammer," reported defective by H.S. Deane, Order #130. 4. Letter and postal cover from New-York Life to Mr. Stephen A. Seanovino, Aurora, Nevada. From Darwin P. Kingsley, President, datelined Reno, NV, Oct 4th, 1916. The note asks the Mr. Seanovino "see Dr. Craig, as no action can be taken on your application until the exam reaches the Home Office." 5. Photograph of older Native American woman sitting in front of white picket fence. Measure 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" with white border. Contrast is medium, while focus is good. No photographer noted. On reverse "82," "Aurora," and "Billeb" are hand-written in pencil. 6. Series of 10 photographs, each measuring 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" with white border, mounted on black album paper removed from album. While seven of the images appear to be family oriented, three look like "ghosttown" images. While these are believed to be from Aurora, they cannot be verified at this time.
