The Mount Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railway was a scenic tourist railway that operated between Mill Valley and the peak of Mount Tamalpais. The railroad incorporated in January 1896 and closed in 1930. Lot of 5 postcards of the Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railway including: 1) A color postcard of the west point on the Mt. Tamalpais Railway and postmarked 21 June California. 2) An iconic postcard of “THE IRON STEED” Engine number 8 with its conductor. 3) A postcard with a small square image of the steam train, loaded with tourists, ascending the mountain. 4) A ¾ frontal view of the number 5 steam engine. 5) A postcard depicting Camp Taylor station. The reverse is addressed to Herman Rosenbery and postmarked 1907. - Jacobitz Collection -60091
