This is an early and rare original Montana Crow Native American Indian hair roach dating to circa ealry 1900. The piece is crafted from porcupine hair and has the tips dyed with yellow ocher mineral pigment paint. The center structure is woven with black, red, light red German town like trade yarn with porcupine quill work outer edge and woven porcupine hair center. The piece shows the correct manufacture and craftsmanship and patina to confirm its over 100 year old age. These headdresses would have been worn across the top of the warriors head for battle or a special ceremony. This example displays very well and shows good overall condition.
