For bidding in this lot is an original photograph of the city of Bonner, Montana, nestled in the heart of Missoula County. The photograph is circa 1914, and shows a hillside view of the city. In the photograph, you'll see the once thriving city of Bonner, with the Margaret Hotel in the foreground, and the Blackfoot Mill just behind. The photograph is marked on the top left corner, reading; "Bonner 1914 - Mill Burned 1919." - Referencing "The greatest fire in the history of Western Montana", burning a large portion of the massive mill to the ground on January 16, 1919. The mill was rebuilt, and operational again by September 1919. Through the 1970's and 1980's, the Bonner plywood mill was thought to be the largest of it's type. The Anaconda Company sold the business in 1972, only to be sold again in 1993 to Stimson Lumber. The mill closed for good after 122 years of continuous lumber production. In 2011, a heavy snowfall collapsed much of the mills roof. Overall, the early photograph shows good condition for age, and is now preserved in a nice frame. The photograph does show wear indicative of age, with some paper browning, and a crease down the center. The frame measures 25 1/4" wide, and 14 3/8" tall.
