STAR WARS: EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE (1977)KENNER (1978)An original Kenner Quality-Control sample, this toy features a hand-written decal that reads "7/14/78 NEW LOCATION FOR PASTE ON LABEL". The plastic tag fastener could have presented a potential safety concern since the item was geared for children as young as 2 years old; thus, the new label was added. This QC piece notes to change the label position as it obscured the LP logo as well as the character image although production toys can be found with this label in different locations. The subsequent release featured a transparent rectangular yellow label which didn't greatly obscure the image, while the final version incorporated this wording into the existing verbiage on the tag itself. A fascinating glimpse into the production process and a very early piece of Kenner Star Wars history.Condition: Good; a dark ink stain is present on the back of one leg.Dimensions: 10'' x 11'' x 6'' (25cm x 27.5cm x 15cm)Estimate: $2,000-3,000 *This Lot Will Be Sold Day 1 - February 28th11:00AM PST
