12 Ga. 2-3/4" (both). Serial numbers 40770/1 and 40770/2 (1930). Lebeau-Courally has a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the world’s finest guns. The 27-1/2" Whalreyne steel chopper-lump barrels are fitted with narrow matted game ribs, and the tops of the left barrels are engraved AUG. LEBEAU-COURALLY and Ft. A LIEGE. The barrel flats carry 1930 Belgian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers along with the maker’s name and address. The barrel bottoms are stamped with steel and choke designations. The coin-finished reinforced sidelock actions are stocked to the fences and feature automatic safeties, bushed strikers with gas vents, Purdey-type hidden third fasteners, gold-plated internal parts, engraved arrowhead cocking indicators, and double triggers. Each action bears the same serial number followed by 1 or 2, reflecting that the guns were built as a true pair. The actions and lockplates are engraved in a Renaissance style with scrolling ribbons and large flower blossoms surrounded by dense small scroll. The bottoms of the actions display game scenes of ducks rising from a marsh. Scrolled ribbons on the left lockplates carry the maker’s name and address, while those on the right read Fait Pour J. Nain A Lyon. The fences are engraved in low-relief floral motifs, and the top levers are gold-inlaid with the numbers 1 and 2. The trigger guards show floral bursts on their bows with serial numbers on the long tangs. Measurements – Gun No. 1: Bore diameter: L .738, R .738. Choke constriction: L .040 (extra full), R .018 (modified). Wall thickness: L .018, R .019 (measured along the top of the barrels approx. 12" from the muzzles). Stock: DAH 2+", DAC 1-1/2", cast neutral, LOP 14-1/2". Weight: 6 lb. 11 oz. Measurements – Gun No. 2: Bore diameter: L .729, R .726. Choke constriction: L .014 (modified), R .006 (IC).
