Leadville,CO - Lake County - c1897 - Portrait of Dan Healy Photograph :
A man and his revolver. Portrait cabinet card measures 3 7/8”x5 1/2”, white single matte with gold pin striped border 4 1/4”x6 1/2”, medium contrast—suffers from some fading, and the focus is sharp. Photographers, C. Frank O’Keefe and Frederick T. Stockdorf from Leadville, were partners from 1894-97 and located at 5th and Harrison. Written on the reverse of the card, "Dan Healy of Leadville." The Healy House was built by August R. Meyer, a mining engineer, in 1878. Meyers sold it in 1881. Dan Healy leased the house from 1897-1902 and turned it into a boarding house. Next door is the Dexter Cabin, a poker club for wealthy gentlemen. Currently, both structures are maintained as public museums by the Colorado Historical Society.
