This is a nice example of a late WWII commercial P.38 pistol as manufactured by the Walther company. The pistol barrel has the dull blue military finish, while the slide and frame both have the late war purple/red tinted finish. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther Banner followed by the factory legend and caliber in two lines and "Mod.P38". The serial number, 25618 is located on the right side of the frame, the front of the barrel lug and the top, right, side of the slide rail. The bottom of the locking block is stamped: "618". The right front corner of the slide is stamped with the "Eagle/N" commercial proof mark, as well as the barrel, locking block and frame. It is fitted with the standard ribbed red/brown plastic grips, with the three circular mold marks on the back with the bottom one marked: "P/1529/S". The magazine is blued and marked "P.38v/U" on the lower left side.
