The lot features a nice hide leather beaded antler horse quirt from a Lakota Sioux Native American Indian artist, likely John Young Buck from the late 20th Century. The piece shows a Deer Antler handle which is inlaid with three oblong polished cabochons of turquoise from the Blue Gem Mine, scrimshaw etched with a sun figure, showing a drilled hole holding a tanned leather wrist throng with brass and glass trade beads and at the front the quirt whip held on with brass covered metal tacks. The whip front shows harness saddle leather wrapped in red stroud trade clothe and a tight wrapping of tanned hide leather with glass trade pony beads in light blue with tied on fringes of metal hawk bells, hair pipe bone beads, wound glass trade beads, glass trade beads, and red stroud wrapped horse tail hair drop. The piece displays well and is in good condition. Measures overall 39”L with front leather and back wrist throng fringes.
