Lakota Sioux Beaded Belt Pouch circa 1920's-
The lot features a flat bag belt pouch crafted of Indian tanned hide and beautifully accented with geometric beadwork attributed to the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians of the first to second quarter of the 20th Century. The piece has the original hide tie straps still attached and has artful geometric beaded designs on both sides done in the typical Sioux patterns. The beads are all glass trade seed beads in colors of chalk white, sky padre light blue, medium green, greasy yellow, along with a single wound glass red trade bead at the end of the rope beaded bottom fringe. The tie straps also show rope beadwork on the ends with fringe and the bottom edge and edge of the opening show a nice small cut fringe. The bag, overall, shows a yellow ocher coloring and is in good supple condition, with no visible tears or snags and little to no missing beads. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Tom Hardy of Indian. Measures 7 inches long by 3 ½ inches wide.
