KUSHAN: Kanishka I, ca. 127-152, AV ¼ dinar (1.96g), G-41, bust of Kanishka to left, wearing peaked triangular cap, emerging from the clouds, holding spear // the fire deity Athsho standing, holding diadem, with the Kushan tamgha below the diadem, decent Fine, RRR. Only one example of this type is listed by Göbl (same reverse die), but there are 5 examples on CoinArchives (all from same dies). All of the full dinars and most of the quarter dinars of Kanishka I show him standing, but he appears on some quarter dinars with only his bust, always emerging from the clouds, all of them at least very rare.
