The only photo ever taken of Janis Joplin by Burton Wilson. 12" x 15", Personal note on back: "I think everyone knows that Julie Joyce actually made Janis start singing at Threadgill's in the 1960's. This picture was taken at The Matrix, 3138 Fillmore, S.F. on August 27, 1970. It was ALL TEXAS NIGHT featuring - Boz Scaggs, Kracker Jack and Cross Country. - - Julie & Chuck Joyce, Linda & Roy Robertson, Travis Holland-bass, T.Bone-drums. Janis had sneaked in backstage to see Julie and hear her sing. She bitched that Boz wouldn't quit singing and to get her off the stage so Cross Country could go on. I talked with her a lot. She was feeling good, bookings were going real well and she was very pleased with her new album. This was exactly one month before her death. - Burton Wilson Oct. 15, 1986 To Eddie & Threadgill's with fond regards, Burton"
