For your bidding pleasure in this lot is a collection of three prints by indigenous Canadian artists. The first print is by Jackson Beardy. Jackson Beardy (1944 – 1984) was an Indigenous Anishinaabe artist born in Canada. His works are characterized by scenes from Ojibwe and Cree oral traditions and many focus on the relationship between humans and nature. This print is the native symbol for “Communication". The print is on 8" x 6" paper. The next two prints are by Kananginak Pootoogook. Kananginak Pootoogook (1935 – 2010) was an Inuk sculptor and printmaker who lived in Cape Dorset, Nunavut, in Canada. Both prints are signed and dated 1977. The first is "Walrus Under Spring Sun". This print shows a pile of walrus resting on an ice block. The paper this is on measures 10" x 8 1/2". The second print is called "Sitgarrit" which is a drawing of 3 sandpiper type birds. The paper this print is on measures 9 1/4" x 7". This print has two stains on it. All three prints are hand marked with the artist’s name, title, and date. The prints are professionally framed in brush silver frames.
