J. McVicker is done in casein, a popular water soluble media used widely in the 1940s. It is a vibrant bimorphic abstraction of three figures: man (right), woman( left), and child (middle). The female form to the left contains an unborn "embryo."

This painting is an excellent example of the transitional period in McVicker's career, where he had moved on from a regionalist style, but was yet to yield to total abstraction.

Provenance:
Estate of J.
