In Safe Arms by Charles Schreyvogel Framed Print
Included in this lot we have a framed Charles Schreyvogel print titled "In Safe Arms" originating from the early 20th century. Schreyvogel is a known western painter and artist known for his depictions of the wild west. Unfortunately due to his early death at the age of 51, his artistic carrier was cut short only becoming recognized 11 years before his death. Despite that Schreyvogel is still regarded, along with the likes of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell, one of the artists of the last frontier. This print depicts three U.S. Cavalry soldiers as they cross a river and fire at Native American pursuers. The soldier in the front is shown holding a little girl protectively in his arms as he fires on the closest Indian. The print shows good detail with a realistic art style. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand corner reading "Chris Schreyvogel Copyright" and marked "Reinthal & Newman Distributors. N.Y." in the bottom right corner. The print is set into a wood and resin gold painted frame with intricate embossed designs across the frame and an off-white border around the art. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear on the frame. The frame measures 26 1/2" wide by 20" tall with the are=t measuring 19 1/4" wide by 14 1/4" tall.
