Jalna ?, Silver Rupee, 9.54g, in the name of Shah Alam II, Shivalinga mint mark on obverse and 'Trishul' and 'Sun' symbols on reverse. Complete mint name on bottom of reverse. Corroded, uncleaned, fine+, extremely rare.
A similar rupee is illustrated by Maheshwari& Wiggins as T17a of their 'miscellaneous and unattributed' section and another sold in Auction. On both these coins, the mint-name was cut off the flan so it was impossible to discern where they were struck. Stylistically the coin is close to issues of Daulatabad mint. The extant mint name on this coin can therefore be tentatively suggested to be 'Jalna'.
