Offered in this lot we have a trade bead necklace made of red cornaline d'aleppo yellow heart beads and originating from the 17th to 19th century. The piece shows 56 red yellow heart round beads set in a graduating pattern. These 1600-1800’s beads are regularly referred to as “yellow hearts” due to the yellow core at the “heart” or center of each bead that is finished with a red opaque outer shell. This exceptional strand shows a fine “graduated” design, showing larger approximately 3/4” diameter beads at the base that slowly or gradually become smaller up the strand. These authentic early trade beads display very well and have been appraised at a value of over $900. Provenance: From the collection of Dr. David and Marsha Bowerly of Oregon. The piece comes with an original museum collection tag stating, Yellow HEarts (Water or Buried $200" and "Picard #153". The piece shows good condition overall with some wear across the piece. The necklace measures approximately 23" in circumference.
