Heywood Wakefield Mid Century Style Accent Table
For your consideration is a Heywood Wakefield midcentury style accent table. This square, versatile magazine or lamp table was manufactured by the Heywood Wakefield Company from 1950 to 1955. This piece exhibits the angular look that was popular in the 50's. Heywood Brothers (est. 1826) and Wakefield Company (est. 1855) merged to create Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company; the name would be shortened to Heywood-Wakefield in 1921. The new company rose to particular popularity in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s with its solid wood, Art Deco-inspired mid-century modern furniture. Today, their pieces are among some of the most collectible furniture in America. The condition is commensurate to age and use, showing some signs of clear coating peeling and minor scratches. This piece includes the maker's mark and is stamped "364-G". It measures 25 3/4" tall by 26" wide and 24" deep.
