Hall-North Model 1843 Breechloading Percussion Carbine, NVSN, .52 cal. smoothbore, 21'' barrel, iron mountings, brown lacquer finish, case hardened breech, ''WAT'' inspector's cartouche to right side of smooth walnut stock; left side cartouched ''GWH''. Breechblock marked ''US/S North/Midl'tn/Conn./1847''. Both the 1st and 2nd U.S. Dragoons used this type carbine during the Mexican War, as did many Cavalry regiments. Condition is excellent, as found, with dried grease and minor soilage from storage. Lever shows minor discoloration, which appears to be easily cleanable. Stock with light scuffs and dings. Action is crisp, bore is bright, appearing possibly unfired. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
