About the Artist: WAH, EDOUARD was born on February 18, 1938 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He is the brother of deceased and well-known artist, Bernard Wah.. In 1952, Edouard and his brother, Bernard, studied at the Foyer des Arts Plastiques learning new techniques with such masters as Petion Savain, Dieudonne Cedor, Wilson Jolicoeur, Nehemy Jean, Luckner Lazard, and Joseph Jacob. Around 1953, Edouard frequented the studio of sculptor Carl Desmangles, where he learned modeling. He stopped to become a dancer and later from 1957 to 1959, he was an engraver with Industries Nationales Reunies. Since 1959 he has devoted himself to painting.

In 1963, with the collaboration of his brother Bvernard and a few other painters, poets, and writers, Edouard founded the cultural and artistic Center ?CALFOU?. In 1970, Edouard Wah opened the National Art Gallery, which later became the Voodoo Temple. In 1971, he left for the US to participate in several exhibits and to pursue his studies in painting. Edouard Wah, deceased in September, 2003.
