Additional information: The work is hand signed in pencil by the artist at the lower left margin "Campendonk" .
This is probably a rare trial proof before the total edition of 125 signed impressions (100 on wove paper and 25 on Japan paper).
This woodcut was the first plate in Campendonk important series in the deluxe periodical "Die Schaffenden" of 1918 that was published by Verlag Gustav Kiepenheuer, Weimar.
Campendonk was a member of the Der Blaue Reiter group, from 1911 to 1912.
Another impression of this work can be found among other in the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia and in the Milwaukee Museum of Modern Art.
