Ornate logo with a small vignette of a mountain scene with setting sun. Reverse of certificate has a map of the claims, showing the Golden West Group incl.Oliver B., Hanna, Climax, Gold Dust, and Golden West, along with a 20 stamp mill. Deep folds with some separation occurring, toning. Printed by Buxton & Skinner, St. Louis. 8.5 x 10.75" According to a May 18, 1889 article in the Arizona Weekly Citizen, the company's claims were located at Monarch and Christopher Loss was general manager and superintendent. Most of the work being done was on the Golden West. The formation was lime with some porphyry and slate. In the Golden West, the shaft was down 175 feet with over 400 feet of drifting completed and a working tunnel of 150 feet. The ore is free milling and should average at least $22 per ton.
