FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 12 3/8" oct. to rnd. w/ brass barley corn front sight marked NO. 84 & F41 on top left flat. Rounded arched lockplate features heavy rnd. bodied serpentine cock, inset rounded pan, unbridled friction frizzen & feather spring w/ long flame finial. The monogram "F5" surmounted by a crown is in front of cock. Birchwood stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to muzzle terminating in brass band. Stock is dramatically styled w/ raised, carved fields around lockplate, sideplate & bbl. tang. Brass mts. include heavy spurred grip cap w/ terminal boss, rounded trigger guard w/ foliate finial, rounded serpentine 3 screw sideplate & dbl. beaded ramrod pipe w/ matching thimble. Left side of grip cap & sideplate as well as side panel of stock are stamped "41". Trigger guard grip is punch dot “engraved” "L x No 57". Pistol is accompanied by an old, possibly original, wooden ramrod. CONDITION: very good, original flintlock. All iron parts are a dark brown patina w/ scattered light pitting. Wood w/ old oil refinish & subsequent hand worn patina is basically sound w/ some minor chipping around lock & grip cap. Brass w/ old cleaning somewhat softened now a mustard yellow. Mechanically good; will not hold at full cock. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19057/MGM). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
