Extremely Early Production Colt Model 1862 Police Percussion Revolver with Two Digit Serial Number

Manufactured in 1861, the first year production, with serial number 50. The serial number "50" is marked on the cylinder, barrel, frame, grip straps, wedge and cylinder pin. The left side of the trigger guard is marked with the letters "G" and "S" and the left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT". The top of the barrel has the one line Hartford address. Fluted cylinder with the patent date marking, brass grip straps and fitted with a smooth walnut grip.

Very good as refinished. The revolver retains traces of blue finish with a smooth artificial patina on the balance. Some light pitting is present (mostly on the barrel). The grip straps retain 20% silver plating with the exposed brass having an even patina. The grip is fine with worn edges and a few minor handling marks.
