Elvis Presley's Personally Owned Stage Worn Ankh Necklace Worn in Las Vegas on August 12, 1973 W/Notarized Letter of Provenance, Photos & Magazine - This silver toned ankh necklace was personally owned and worn by Elvis Presley. The necklace was worn by Elvis at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel on August 12, 1973, where he performed a midnight show. When Elvis took the stage that night he made his way to the front of the stage to greet his fans, he bend down to shake hands and the necklace fell to the ground and was picked up by a fan seated in the front row. She returned the necklace to Elvis, who then gave the necklace back to her along with a silk scarf. She had this piece engraved on the back the next day with Elvis' name, the date "8-12-73" and the hotel name "L.V. Hilton" in order to never forget the day. This special, stage worn piece will be accompanied by a notarized letter of provenance detailing the story of how the piece was acquired, along with several photos of Elvis wearing the necklace in Las Vegas on August 9, 1973 while meeting backstage with famous Japanese music critic and songwriter Reiko Yukawa. The lot will also include an issue of The Elvis Files Magazine which features an article about Elvis' meeting with Yukawa. The ankh pendant measures approx. 2.75" x 1.75", and hangs on a 26" chain. According to our seller, this piece was made by Mike McGregor, a blacksmith and leather craftsman who met Elvis in the 1960s at the Western shop where Mike worked crafting saddles. Elvis hired Mike to work at the Circle G Ranch taking care of the horses. Mike and his family lived at Circle G and then moved to Graceland, where he continued making leather goods and jewelry for Elvis until he left Graceland to open his own jewelry shop in Mississippi in 1976.
