Available for your bidding pleasure is this Early Heywood Wakefield NY Wicker Armchair. Heywood Brothers was established in 1826, while Wakefield Company was later, in 1855. Both firms produced wicker and rattan furniture, and as these products became increasingly popular towards the end of the century, they became serious rivals. In 1897 the companies merged as Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company, but this name was changed to Heywood-Wakefield Company in 1921. The Heywood-Wakefield Company continues to make furniture out of Massachusetts and North Carolina. This piece shows a dark brown wicker construction displaying excellent design and detail. This chair also features a wonderful and unique floral upholstery with the original company label on back. This piece of early furniture shows excellent condition and quality and wonderful design. It measures 39" tall x 26 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep.
