Featured in this lot is a early 1900s German bayonet by Carl Gottlieb Haenel made in Suhl. C. G. Haenel is a German weapon manufacturer located in Suhl, Germany that began producing bicycles and weapons in 1840. Haenel later produced hunting weapons and bayonets then, during WWI, produced vast quantities of the Mauser Model 98 for the German Army. This bayonet comes with the original leather scabbard and mounting. On one side of the blade it reads, "C. G. Haenel, Suhl" stating it was made by C. G. Haenel in Suhl, Germany. On the outside edge of the blade it shows a crown logo with, "0 04" reading below it. The wooden handle has been slightly broke and is chipping, and the blade has nice patina from its vintage age and use. The leather scabbard is intact and in good condition with no signs of damage. It shows wear from its vintage age. Overall the bayonet and leather scabbard are in good condition overall. The bayonet measures 25 3/4" L x 1 1/4" W at the base of the handle, The scabbard measures 27 1/4" L x 1 1/4" W.
