<td width="100%">
Circa 1800 European probably German Figureine measuring 8 1/4" in height sitting on a tree stump playing a musical instrument that resembles a guitar but is either a banjo, mandolin or a string instrument of this kind. There is a mark under the base which is a X which would make you think of a crossed swords mark as in Meissen . There is another mark in blue glaze at the top of the X but we cannot decipher it either. The meissen as we all know is a crossed sword, but this could be Volkstedt. Good Conditioin with only a few firing marks under the base. The basket of flowers has no chips or losses which is usually common. The mark in blue glaze at the top of the X might be a a t which would or could indicate a early mark of Carl Thieme of the Saxony Porcelain Factory. Dresden.
