Transitional coinage, Silver, 11.37g, 'Hallee Rupee', Pune Mint, with Fasli date (123)9 added to the reverse, and nicely visible mint-name 'Muhiyabad'. Very fine, rare.
An interesting aspect of this coin is the number '12' visible at 1 o'clock on obverse, which is commensurate with RY1(2) on reverse. It is interesting to note that Fasli year 1239 corresponds to AD1829-30, so the number '12' might well correspond to the regnal year of the Company, counting from the fall of Maratha Peshwai in January 1818. This aspect of the coin can be only brought to light when the relevant portions of the die are in visible field, which makes this coin significant.
