Declaration of Independence Centennial Broadside Printing
(DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE). 1876 Dated Advertising Broadside titled: “1776-1876 Centennial Memorial” Declaration of Independence, Copyright by James D. McBride, Printed in Philadelphia, Choice Extremely Fine.
c. 1876 Titled: “1776-1876 Centennial Memorial”, handsome Declaration of Independence. It celebrates the United States’ Centennial of 1876 by reproducing this decorative Declaration of Independence and its facsimile signatures. Measuring 19.5” x 14.5” it is printed in black on thin, cream-colored paper meant to simulate age. Atop is the image of an American Eagle flanked atop a spread of American Flags. In the lower left-hand corner is the Department of the Interior’s Red Seal and a facsimile signature by the Secretary of the Interior, certifying it as a “Fac.Simile of the original...”. Some faint tone and trivial wrinkles. This impressive piece was printed by the Continental Publishing Company of Philadelphia as a Centennial Memorial to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the lower right-hand corner is a vignette image titled: “Independence Hall as it was 1776.” Interestingly, a tiny notice at the bottom of this Broadside offers a printed plate paper version, with a red seal and no advertising panel, for only 50 cents! (This example seems to be one of those). Also included is a Xerox reproduced copy of “Washington's Reception on the Bridge at Trenton - Decm. 26, 1776”. (2 items).
