The lot features a fine set of floral beaded Indian tanned hide men’s pants from the Crow Apsaalooke Native American Indians of Montana and dating to the 19th Century. The set shows an Indian tanned hide construction with fine wide hand-cut fringe down the entire length of both legs and accented by two frontward facing square pockets also adorned with fringe. The front of the pants shows a whimsical floral beaded pattern running down the entire length of both legs done in all period correct glass trade seed beads of green, red, cobalt and greasy butterscotch yellow. The set shows a trade thread and some sinew construction with early calico trade clothe lining at the ankles and belt area. The set shows overall good condition and displays very well.
