For sale in this lot is a fine example of a Colt New Service revolver, chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge. This firearm has a manufacture date of 1912. The New Service was Colt's first true "big-bore" revolver, designed with the swing-out cylinder, and chambered for some of the largest rounds of its time, including; .38-40, .44-40, .44 Russian, .44 Special, .45 Colt, .455 Webley, .450 Boxer, .476 Enfield, and later the .357 Magnum. The revolver lived a long manufacture-life, produced between 1896 to 1946, and utilized by not only the United States Armed Forces, but with the United Kingdom, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The revolver is marked with the correct period roll-stampings, reading; "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. - PAT'D AUG 5, 1884 JUNE 5, 1900 JULY 4, 1905" on the top of the barrel, and matching serial numbers on the frame, swing-out cylinder, and on the factory letter. This example is a 7 1/2" barrel variant, and has a deep reblue'd finish, and after market grips. Overall, the revolver shows fair condition. Serial Number: 57571. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
