Offered for your consideration in this lot is a collection of 6 wooden folding rulers. These folding wooden measurers remained the essential item for a everyone until the metal tape measures began gaining in popularity in the 1940s. The first two are "Interlox Master Slide rule by Master Rule Mfg Co. NY". The Master Rule Manufacturing Company was founded on July 21, 1908 in New York City, New York. Its industry was hardware. The company was sold to the Lufkin Rule Company in 1956. These first two slid rules are made of wood and brass and have a button lock system and they slide straight out to extend. They are printed on one side in Black paint and red paint on the other and extend out to 96". The next two rules are by Lufkin. The first is Model X46 Red End with a 6" metal slide extension. Again Wood and Brass are the materials used. This rule is painted in yellow and black and swings open to extend up to 72". The next rule is painted white with black and red markings to 6 feet. It is marked 066D Red End Engineers Lock Joint. The fifth rule is a Craftsman Wood Rule #3938pr. It is painted yellow with black numbers and extends out to 72" with brass hinges. The last rule is marked The Great Neck Extension Rule No. ER-G Made In USA. This rule shows the natural wood with black paint numberings and brass hinges. It swings open to 72" and has a metal extension slide on the first 6" piece. This rule has its paper holder it was sold with. It is reads "Superior Extension Rule 6ft extension rule with 6" metal slide made of hard maple, lifetime joints, rugged, compact a quality tool manufactured of finest materials available, with quality workmanship throughout. Made in U.S.A." . All these rules are in very good condition with tight joints.
