Collection Of Antler Handle Hunting Knives
In this lot are four antler handled hunting knives. The first of these knives is a pair of knives in one sheath. The sheath measures 9" and has two places for knives to sit. The sheath has a slit for a belt to run through. The stitching is coming out and some of the leather has separated from the rivets. The first knife that goes with this sheath is 8 1/2" long. The blade is just over 4 1/2" long and is marked “Rostfrei”. Rostfrei is German for stainless. There is a small brass guard before the handle, which is made of antler. This knife comes with a smaller knife. This knife measures 5 1/5" with a 2 1/2" blade. The small blade is also marked “Rostfrei” and has a handle made of antler. There is a small hole drilled into the handle of the small knife, so it can be fastened with a thong. The next knife is a Western. The knife measures 11 1/2" in the sheath. The sheath is 6 1/2" long. The blade is 4 1/2" long and has a curved antler handle that is 5" long with a button on the end. The blade is marked “Western U.S.A. L48 J”. The j mark says this blade came from 1986. The antler handler is nicely shaped and smoothed to fit your hand. The last knife is 9" in the sheath. The sheath has a loop to run a belt through and a strap with a brass snap to secure the knife. The stitching on the sheath is in good condition and the sheath is stamped with "JEN". The blade is 4" long and has a brass guard. There are 4 spacers and then the antler handle, which is 4 1/4" long. The overall condition of these knives is good, considering their age and use.
