Circa 1939 Texas A&M Aggies Game Worn Jersey
Circa 1939 Texas A&M Aggies Game Worn Jersey. Texas estate sale find should be a thrill for a nation of Aggies, as pre-war collegiate football uniforms are a rare sight upon the auction circuit. We've been able to identify the player who made use of this durene beauty as Weldom Maple, who wore number "62" as a sophomore for the NCAA Championship team of 1939. Included is a fantastic photo of Maple wearing the jersey, striking a classic early football pose. The maroon body of the jersey is complimented by white shoulders and sleeve striping, and white felt number "62" applied to chest and back. A single "A.G. Spalding & Bros, Durene, 44" label is sewn to interior hem. The jersey remains in wonderful condition with a scattered fabric pull or small stain, but nothing that diminishes the visual appeal. Joining the jersey and photograph as found at the estate sale is the player's cleats worn in the photo, and his Class of 1941 sweater, each of which approximates the jersey's impressive condition. The final piece in the lot is a silver colored pendant commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 1939 Championship season. Pendant remains in original "Haltom's, Fort Worth" jewelry box. LOA from Lou Lampson.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Larg (view shipping information)
