Chicago Firearms Protector Palm Pistol with Scarce Attractive Pearl Side Plates

Manufactured in the 1890s these pistols featured a rebated barrel with a band of floral engraving, removable side plate with a checkered pattern around the edge. "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. CHICAGO, ILL" is marked on the side plate and the frame is missing the insert marked with the patent dates. There is a checkered pattern around the outer edge of one panel and a floral leaf design engraving on the other. Matching numbers (2386) on frame and side plate with the cylinder having the number "2814". The side plates are pearl and the plunger is fitted with a checkered hard rubber grip. Very fine as mismatched. The pistol retains 90% original nickel finish showing some minor flaking. A gouge in the metal is present on the side plate. The pearl is missing a very small surface chip and has a very attractive color. The hard rubber has crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
