Ca. 1950 Plains Painted Rawhide Large Drum
The lot features a mid-1900's Plains painted rawhide drum with nice medium-to-large size. The drum exhibits a cut pine core with wetted and stretched rawhide parfleche top held into place with small metal nails and a wire frame with wrapping in the center. The front shows a geometric and Bald Eagle painted design with heavy patina from much ceremonial use. This has a rich deep sound and displays very well. Measures overall 16-inches diameter by 3.25-inches tall. Has a nice patina and coloring.
