Featured in this lot is this Chippewa Ojibwe beaded tanned hide moccasins circa 1930's. The moccasins feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted tanned hide construction that shows trade seed bead decoration with light brown, chalk white, and deep blue coloration. The Chippewa, also known as the Ojibway or Ojibwe (said to mean the puckered moccasin people), live mainly in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and Ontario. They speak a form of the Algonquian language and are closely related to the Ottawa and Potawatomi. The condition of this pair of Chippewa moccasins is preserved with a hole in the left moccasin and some wear to the hide of the moccasins but otherwise is preserved. The measurements of these moccasins is 8 7/8" x 3 5/8" x 1 1/4". The collective weight of this pair of moccasins is 4oz.
