Lot of 3. 1. The Rocky Mountain Gold Mining and Milling Company. Number 2593 issued to A. A. Rollestone, Cashier, by Wayne J. Smith, Secretary, and Ralph Burham, President on 20 July 1905 for 1,000 shares. Also signed by the registrar of the Colorado Title and Trust Co. of Denver. This company owned the Rocky Mountain and North Slope consisting of 9.55 acres in the S. E. one-quarter of Sect. 25 on Beacon Hill; the Oregon and Texas which consisted of 20 acres in the North Cripple Creek District, the American Nos. 1 and 2, made up of 13.584 acres in the N. E. one-quarter of sect. 26 on Buck Mt.; also the Mogul and Daisy Bell on the west slope of Cow Mt. Production as of 1 January 1900 was 500 oz. gold [Ref: Hills, Fred, The Official Manual Cripple Creek District, Colorado, 1900]. On crème paper with a green border. U/C. No vignette. Excellent condition.

2. The Rose Nicol Gold Mining Company issued number 1548 to E. O. Smith on 5 July 1900 for 1,000 shares. Signed by Oliver H. Shoup as Secretary and Verner Z. Reed as President and also signed by the registrar of the International Trust Co. of Denver. According to Carl Swift's notes, Oliver Shoup (1869-1940) became a millionaire on Cripple Creek mining ventures and later Wyoming oil. He became governor of Colorado in 1918 but the 1929 stock market crash wiped out his fortune and he died penniless. Company officers included Verner Z. Reed, president, Clarence Edsall, vice-president, Oliver H. Shoup, secretary and treasurer. Their main office was with the Reed and Hamlin Investment Company, Bank Block, Colorado Springs. The company owned the Rose and the Gurley claims, located in N.W. one-quarter of section 29, on Battle Mountain and Bull Hill. Both claims were patented. In 1900 there was a steam hoist located on the property and the company was sinking a shaft and working through a tunnel. Its side line is a side of a portion of the Portland Companies properties. Assays ran over 1 oz./ton gold. On white paper with gold border this plain looking stock has a vignette of a mountain over the company masthead. Signed by Smith on reverse and witness E. B. Kinney. Not cancelU/Cnt condition.

3. The Sheriff Gold Mining Company number 60 issued to Wm. B. Jenkins by Mort Parsons, Secretary, and Matt France, President, on 8 December 1899, for 1,000 shares. Signed by Jenkins on reverse and a witness, Leonard Jackson. Cancelled. On crème paper with a red border with a vignette of a bald eagle with wings outstretched over the company name. A certificate of sale also comes with this stock. This company owned the Sheriff Lode, survey No. 7,508 which contained 10 acres in the E. one-half of sect. 20 on the Saddle between Raven and Bull Hill. Ore of paying grade was shipped from nearly every working mine on the property, but no large continuous shoot was located. Matt France was the former sheriff of Cripple Creek. Excellent condition.
