Not much is known about Salonina (or more properly Julia Cornelia Salonina). She was the wife of Gallienus. Between 253 and 268 A.D. she was augusta. When Gallienus was murdered in 268, she may or may not have been herself killed. While the appearance of women on Roman coins are not unknown, many such coins are rare. Those of Salonina are comparatively common, although more scarce than those of her male contemporaries. � JC-30101-49
