Constans was the son Constantine the Great. After his father's death in 337 A.D., when Constans was only about 14 years of age, he and his brothers vied for power. Constans defeated his brother Constantine II in 340. Constans was assassinated in 350 A.D., after his homosexuality incurred the ire of the army, and General Magnentius rebelled. The reverse on this coin features a campgate, and reads: PROVIDENTIAE CAESS "(Dedicated to) the foresight of our Caesars". JC-30101-139 JC-30239
