He scored major victories against the Alemanni (a coalition of Germanic tribes), as well as the Goths (an eastern Germanic people. In 268 A.D., after Gallienus was murdered, the army proclaimed Claudius emperor. He died of disease in 270 A.D. � JC-30101-72
