13. Ben-Gurion, David. Autograph letter signed ("D. Ben-Gurion"), 1 page (5.5 x 8.25 in.; 140 x 210 mm.), 15 March 1954 from Sde Boker. Written in Hebrew to Eliahu Eliachar, a notable Sephardic Zionist and a Member of the Knesset. Two original punch holes along right edge, not affecting text; otherwise in fine condition. Ben-Gurion writes in part: ...We don't need separate political lists - not those of independent Yemenite or Sephardic political parties. Those lists can only distort/falsify the democratic process in our country and the process of integration as well. We need only Israeli lists. Too many small political groups can only affect [negatively] our stability. The only way to resolve it is to change our voting system from relative voting to local voting. D. Ben-Gurion. Ben-Gurion feared that a plethora of small political parties could potentially destabilize Israel's precarious democracy. He unrelentingly advocated the speedy unification of the numerous ethnic groups and the creation of an integrated singular Israeli identity. $300 - $500
