Watercolor and ink on paper, hanging scroll, featuring mountainous landscape, signed and attributed to Huang Binhong (Chinese, 1865-1955), inscribed with 1 artist seal, 129 x 65 cm, Huang Binhong painter was well-known for his freehand landscapes. “The ancients often remarked that in painting it is better to be clumsy than clever,” he once wrote. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the British Museum in London, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
