This beautiful iridescent glass vase with silver overlay dates from the Art Nouveau period and is in excellent condition. Silver has the impressed purity mark " 999 " near the base but we did not find a maker's mark. Maker is unknown. Likely of American origin and very likely from Alvin Manufacturing Company of Providence Rhode Island. (Launched in 1886, Alvin was known for their Art Nouveau designs and is known to have created 999 pure silver overlay pieces in this style. This firm likely purchased iridescent vases from Steuben or Quezal. Alvin was eventually acquired Gorham.) Measures 6.5" high and 4" across. No visible chips or cracks. This item comes from an impressive collection of antique Bohemian, American and French glass numbering over 150 items. It resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York city, and may be seen by appointment.
