This is a wonderful authentic pre-historic fluted Dalton Fishtail long spear point which shows a fluted half section on both sides with nice high grade and a book value of $2,500. The Dalton, also referred to as the Dalton Fishtail and Dalton Cluster, dates to 10,500-8,500 B.P. from the Transitional Paleo cultural period, Early Holocene Glacial period and was named by Carl H. Chapman in 1948 for collector, Judge Sidna Poage Dalton. The spear point has a collection museum tag that reads, “186-A10 4 1/2” fluted Dalton flint Point Green Co., Ark. Book Value $2,500.00” and “4 ½ Fluted Dalton M-10 Value 2,500 Green Co AR.” The ancient archaic spear point is expertly constructed from a fine Burlington Chert material having outstanding figure with coloring from red, pink, gray, black and white / cream. The piece was collected from Green County, Arkansas and shows a high grade with long spear point with fishtail rear and half fluted fuller on both sides. The piece is in very well-preserved museum quality condition. Provenance: From a multi-generation artifact collection spanning 80-100 years from Las Cruzes, New Mexico. The point is in excellent condition and measures 4 3/4”L x 1 3/8”W. Riker case is 5.5”x4.5” and 1” thick.
