Item/Description: Antique French celebration presentation bowl fashioned from Sterling Silver and set with two medals. The bottom copper medal features Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de la Brède et de Montesquieu (1689-1755) a French philosopher, author, and political theorist who is considered one of the most influential thinkers of the Enlightenment. The bust of Montesquieu is depicted in profile, under a banner bearing his name and title: Carol. De Secondat De Montesqviev. The base is a bronze medal depicting the personifications of Truth and Justice by Swiss medalist, Jacques Antoine Dassier, dated 1753. The Latin phrase Hinc Ivra. Hallmarked on rim: Sterling
